Chemical Storage Cabinets

A chemical storage cabinet or COSHH cabinet is a free-standing enclosure designed to contain oils, corrosives, solvents & glassware. They minimise spillages, vapour and fire hazards through built-in safety mechanisms, including ventilation and storage locks.

A chemical storage cabinet can function in three ways: Non-filtered cabinets act as standalone vented units with no form of extraction. Filtered cabinets use HEPA or carbon-based filters to recirculate air back into the lab. Ducted cabinets use PVC ductwork connected to an external ventilation stack that exhausts air directly into the atmosphere. The type of cabinet you choose depends on the materials being stored and the processes inside your facility. Typically filtered and ducted solutions benefit health & safety thanks to their fume extraction capabilities.

Technically, yes. At TION, we manufacture our cabinets using virgin medical-grade welded polypropylene. It's a non-corrosive material that's naturally stain resistant and simple to clean. Even the most acidic substances like hydrofluoric acid can be stored safely and securely.

It depends on the model of the chemical cupboard. Non-filtered & filtered units can be installed in a matter of minutes. However, ducted chemical cupboards require significant planning, design and installation work to achieve the desired result, ranging from days to weeks.

Chemical storage cabinets typically cost between £3000 to £6000, depending on the complexity and size of the unit. Dead air cupboards will cost significantly less than filtered and ducted units. Unlike traditional mild steel chemical cabinets that rust and corrode easily, we manufacture our products using corrosion-resistant medical-grade welded polypropylene. This material extends the average lifespan of a chemical cabinet by up to 10 years.
