Dead Air Boxes & HEPA PCR Cabinets
We manufacture traditional dead air boxes with UV decontamination technology & HEPA filtered polymerase chain reaction cabinets. While both product ranges create sterile environments (via UV) for sample protection, HEPA cabinets produce a constant stream of downflow air. This functionality adds an additional layer of protection and is a cost-effective alternative to vertical laminar flow hoods.

What Are PCR Cabinets Used For?

Polymerase chain reaction, commonly known as PCR or molecular photocopying, is a scientific method used in molecular biology. It describes the process of DNA sequencing to create copies (in the millions) of small DNA segments. It's a popular process used across the criminal forensic industries and biomedical research. Applications include fingerprint analysis, virus detection and the diagnosis of genetic disorders.

PCR Cabinet Datasheet
A Polymerase Chain Reaction cabinet (commonly referred to as a PCR workstation or PCR hood) is a sterile, ductless enclosure designed to facilitate DNA/RNA sample sequencing and amplification processes. The cabinets are available in two models, dead air & laminar flow (HEPA). The type of cabinet you choose depends on the level of protection needed for your application.
A PCR cabinet removes unwanted airborne contaminants between tests via ultraviolet light to maintain a sterile environment. Laminar flow PCR cabinets protect the sample during and after the testing phase using HEPA-filtered laminar flow air. Dead air enclosures have no airflow controls, relying solely on UV.
PCR stands for "polymerase chain reaction". It describes the process of detecting genetic material from abnormal or irregular cell samples by allowing scientists to copy specific DNA or RNA segments. Common applications include virus detection, genetic testing and disease identification.
No. We only recommended PCR cabinets for DNA/RNA sample sequencing and amplification processes. Biological samples require a class II biosafety cabinet, while chemical substances require a polypropylene fume cupboard. Contact our solution designers for more information.
A PCR cabinet can take between two to four hours to install. It's designed as a simple plug & play system, allowing engineers to position and commission the unit without the need for external ductwork.
A PCR cabinet will cost between £4,000 to £6,000, depending on the size and complexity of the unit. A HEPA-filtered PCR cabinet will cost more than a standard dead air enclosure.
